Day 29 Tank 7 Creek to Tiny Cow Tasting Razor Creek

Friday, August 1, 2014
Mileage: 14 miles
Elevation: 10,300-11,800 feet

Whew! We thought we saw a blue Sasquatch... But it was only "Hobbit".

Early morning rise and shine.  Brrr.. Cold night. We started out our morning trek out of the valley with the misty fog lingering over us. Temperature was a mere 39 degrees!! Sheesh. But once we started walking , we started to warm up.

Just out of the valley we spied these very cool and interesting quail like birds. They have a specific name, and will need to find it. We stopped and watched the momma bird meander through the talk grass chipping at her little ones following behind.
Here is one of the babies below.

And as with any long distance hike, the day would not be complete without a high five and a side air kick... It kind of gets us motivated to keep on marching along . Well, actually we are practicing for the Olympic tryouts for the fencing competition .. Not .

And here we are as the trio of "Pippy , Zippy and Hobbit"

The meadows that we were in today seemed to go on and on, and the mountain views are so pretty with the contrast of the blue sky.

Finally, Zippy was able to capture the forever dodging yellow butterfly. They flutter around us when the sun peeks out.
And the wild flowers are constantly showing off their amazing colors.

Oh look!  Pippy had two heads .
View from the top of Bald mountain.
And this is what we walked on for 10 miles ...
Finally arrived at camp "kukai".  The one and only water source was a tiny stream that trickled through the pasture of free roaming cattle. The water tasted disgustingly like sulfur cow manure...we shocked it, filtered it, boiled it and used a UV light to try to eliminate the taste.. But nothing worked . We added electrolytes to our water but it still tasted rancid ..

View from our tent... The best part if our day.

As we were curled in our cocoons just about to go to bed, we took one final look outside our tent window and caught a glimpse of the final beauty of the day. It made our cow water a little better to drink. Goodnight sun, hello moon and stars!
